Horry County rezoning could convert more than 50 acres of woodlands to nearly 150 new homes

A residential rezoning request could clear the way to build nearly 150 new homes on woodlands in unincorporated Horry County.

If the request is approved, more than 52 acres of land split by Freewoods Road between U.S. 17 and S.C. 707 will be rezoned from a residential to a multi-residential district for the construction of 149 new single-family homes.

Consulting firm Earthworks applied for the rezoning on behalf of landowner Sampit River Investments LLC, according to an Horry County spokesperson. The Sun News was unable to reach Earthworks or Sampit River Investments LLC for comment…
