20-year-old found dead in burning vehicle near Longs, coroner’s office says

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A 20-year-old man was found dead in the backseat of a vehicle on fire over the weekend in the Longs area, the Horry County Coroner’s Office said.

Stoney Floyd Jr. of Loris was found at about 8 p.m. Saturday on Bullock Trail, Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said. His cause of death will be determined after an autopsy, but it’s being investigated as a homicide.

Officers responded at about 8:30 p.m. to assist Horry County Fire Rescue with the blaze, according to a police report. The vehicle was about 500 feet from the intersection of West Bear Grass Road and Bullock Trail and was “purposely” set on fire…
