BBB warns of new scam targeting children’s education

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – The Better Business Bureau has been attempting to warn parents of a relatively new scam involving online tutoring.

According to BBB officials, the scam typically happens when you just go into an online search looking for a tutor.

They say there are many different signs to look for when trying to determine if it’s a scam, such as:

  • The reviews given to the business/service
  • The method by which they would like to be paid ex. Venmo or PayPal
  • The services they are offering

BBB officials say deals that seem too good to be true are more than likely that way…
