MB Mayoral candidate submits petition for weapon monitored zone on Ocean Blvd.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — Eva Rigney, Myrtle Beach mayoral candidate, submitted an amended petition to council to create a weapon monitored zone.

The submitted petition was signed by businesses from 9th Ave N to 10th Ave N along Ocean Boulevard to urge city and council to create gun-free zone in area from June to August.

The amended petition calls for a public safety zone in 700 foot block. It would also have weapon detecting smart gates at entrances to area and use of AI tech to monitor for known offenders, while allowing those who wish to carry the ability to do so as long as they comply with law enforcement…
