Horry County continues to see success with 18-year-old hiring age for corrections officers

It wasn’t long ago that high school graduates had to wait three years before chasing a goal of being a corrections officer.

But when state law changed in 2022 — to lower the age requirement for corrections officers to 18 — students with a high school diploma could immediately apply for a high-paying job in law enforcement.
