CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) — A 48-year-old man accused of shooting at Myrtle Beach police in 2022 pleaded guilty Monday a week before his trial was set to begin, the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office said.
William Berry Hodges of Myrtle Beach pleaded guilty to second-degree arson and three counts of first-degree assault and battery. Circuit Court Judge Michael G. Nettles sentenced Hodges, who is not eligible for parole or early release, to 23 years in prison.
The charges stemmed from an Oct. 27, 2022, incident when Myrtle Beach officers responded to a home on Longleaf Circle. The solicitor’s office said Hodges had assaulted his wife, barricaded himself inside the home, and set a mattress on fire…
