North Myrtle Beach homeowners use sign to protest conditions in channel

Charlie Jones and Dana Conlon are two homeowners in the Cherry Grove section of North Myrtle Beach who are trying to solve a drainage issue.

They took their concerns to a new level recently by placing a large sign in Jones’ yard on Little River Neck Road that says in red letters on a white background: “This storm drain is polluting the waterway.”

By “polluting,” the pair mean that natural silt and sediment coming through the stormwater drainage pipe is piling up in the creek along their properties.

“We have written everybody in the city a letter, all the city council members,” Jones said. “All of them replied back, we’re going to do something. … It’s been a year or so and they’re always putting it off.”…
