Controlled burn, road closures planned in International Drive area

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A controlled burn is set to begin in the International Drive area starting on Wednesday and will cause road closures, according to Horry County government officials.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the South Carolina Forestry Commission are set to complete the burn between Wednesday and Friday, officials said.

A temporary closure of International Drive will take place between Highway 90 and just west of Red Wolf Trail for all traffic. Businesses near Red Wolf Trail will not be impacted by the closure. Access to the Horry County Solid Waste Recycling Facility will remain open but only from Highway 90. See the map above.

The road closure is expected to go into effect after 8 a.m. on the first morning of the burn and will reopen when conditions allow, officials said. Alternate routes include Highway 501 and Highway 22…
