Cold blast slated for early next week!

Next week, specifically Monday evening through Tuesday afternoon, the Grand Strand, along with a huge area of the Eastern USA, will see one of the coldest blasts of arctic air for so early in November.

The source of this air is the Arctic Circle, racing down on a very fast Jet-Stream (upper air channel) and straight into our backyards by Monday evening.

Shown are the forecasted highs for the Grand Strand and Inland, compared to the typical average highs and lows:

This is potentially record-setting cold for many areas in the Eastern USA. Myrtle Beach is likely to see what’s called a “Record Low Maximum” on Tuesday – that’s where the daytime high is not very “high” – In our case, the coldest “High Temp” on November 11th ever recorded was 53 in 1957. If we only hit 50, we break that record by 3 degrees!

Note the progression of the cold blast. It arrives in full force by late Monday afternoon, intensifying on Monday night and especially into Tuesday morning. With the wind howling, those wind chills are expected to be in the 20s!…
