MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) – Another beautiful late summer day has wrapped up across the Grand Strand. Temperatures today warmed into the upper 70s to low 80s across the area. Clouds now moving in to the area ahead of a strong cold front. There is a level 1 risk of a few isolated strong to severe storms possible as the front moves through the area this evening into the early morning hours. The primary area to watch is along Interstate 95 and to the east. The main concern would be an isolated damaging wind gust, and some hail.
As you wake up on Monday morning, clouds will be moving off the coast. We will see a lot of sunshine, but that will not warm us up much. Cold arctic air will dive into the area, this will only allow temperatures to recover to the mid 50s. By late afternoon, with northwest winds kicking in, temperatures will drop quickly across the Grand Strand, Pee Dee and border belt.
Monday night into Tuesday morning, a freeze warning has been issued for the entire area from the Coast to the Pee Dee. Temperatures along the coast will fall to 30-32 degrees. Inland areas will be between 26-30 degrees. Gusty winds will drop wind chills into the 20s area wide Tuesday morning. Lots of sunshine across the area Tuesday, but temperatures will struggle to make it out of the 40s for daytime highs. Tuesday night into Wednesday temperatures will remain in the 30s but should be just above freezing inland…
