Freeze warning in effect Monday night

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Temperatures took a huge tumble due to yesterday’s cold front. We will start our day in the mid-40s and 50s, which is 8 to 20 degrees lower than 24 hours ago. It’s not going to be stormy or rainy at all today; it’s going to be very sunny all week.

Cold arctic air will dive into the area, allowing temperatures to peak only in the mid-50s. By late afternoon, with northwest winds kicking in, temperatures will drop quickly across the Grand Strand, Pee Dee, and Border Belt. Winds will gust 20 to 30 mph overnight, leading to a significant wind chill. The gusty winds and low humidity also pose increased fire risk today and tomorrow, so no burning!

A freeze warning has been issued for the entire area tonight as temperatures along the coast will fall to 30 to 32 degrees. Inland areas will be between 26 and 30 degrees. The wind chill could range from 18 to 22 degrees across the area Tuesday morning. We will monitor for record low temperatures tomorrow morning as the forecast is 28, 28, and 30 for Florence, Lumberton, and North Myrtle Beach, respectively, and the records are 27, 17, and 25…
