Judge orders temporary shutdown of Myrtle Beach hotel after hundreds police visits

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A crime-laden Myrtle Beach hotel must shut down for six months and can only reopen if it hires a certified security company, an Horry County judge ruled Monday.

Police have responded to the Twilight Surf Hotel more than 280 times since May 18, as “drug activity and breaches of peace have become rampant,” the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office said in its request for action.
