‘A role model’: Horry County teacher’s aide placed on leave after livestream video talking about drugs, alcohol surfaces

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — An Horry County Schools teacher’s aide was placed on leave recently after a video surfaced of her having a conversation with another person about drugs and alcohol during a livestream.

The video, which was emailed to News13, shows Sydny Howell talking about drugs and alcohol — including her use of both — with a child in the same room as her. It’s unclear in the video who Howell is talking to at the time and when the video was taken.

“As soon as Horry County Schools became aware of the concerning video filmed off school property, the paraprofessional (Sydny Howell) was placed on administrative leave while the incident is investigated by Human Resources,” a district spokesperson told News13…
