King Tides expected through early this weekend

(WPDE) — The incoming “Supermoon” means another round of King Tides along the Grand Strand.

A “full” or “new” phase of the moon means that the earth, moon and sun are aligned and the tidal forces of the sun and moon add up, causing high tides to be higher. This is the “king tide”.

This king tide is even higher than that during “Supermoons” or when the moon is at its closest point to earth in its orbit. This position is also known as “Perigee”…
