On December 9, 2025, the Horry County Police Department opened its fifth precinct. The launch involved cooperation between the police department, Horry County 911 & Communications, Fire Rescue, IT, and software vendors. Chief Kris Leonhardt noted the teamwork involved, including training, software updates, and equipment changes.
The new precinct is currently located at the old HCFR station on Forestbrook Road. It will move to the Central Coast Complex in the future.
