HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — The longtime wife of Horry County Sheriff Phillip Thompson died Sunday at 75, the agency said on Facebook.
Cherry Lewis Thompson was a mainstay at the sheriff’s office, known each year for joining her husband at the end of each year with Christmas blessings. They were married for 56 years.
“She loved this office as much as the sheriff and proudly stood by his side at seven swearing-in ceremonies. Mrs. Cherry had a special place in her heart for children, working with foster youth at the Department of Social Services before becoming a stay-at-home mom.”…
