New year, new you: How a local gym is preparing those prioritizing fitness in 2026

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. ( WBTW ) — For many, the new year means new beginnings. At Finish Strong Training, co-0wner Jason Flanagan, said the small gym anticipates to see some new faces in the new year with health and wellness being a new year’s resolution.

He said at Finish Strong Resolution, they run group classes to help those on their fitness journey with a consistent roster throughout the year. That is, until January. He said it’s around this time that more people show up for themselves and anticipate at least 15 new gym goers to stop by his gym next month. He said that although it may not be as big as a commercial gym, they still offer many things big gyms offer. He said for those starting their fitness journey for the first time to be patient with yourself and make realistic goals.

“The biggest thing you could do if you are a resolutioner is make it realistic, make it short-term so that you can master it and then say, okay, I did it, I can do this again,” he said. “Make them realistic and small timeline resolutions.”…
