NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — Bundled up in hats, coats and plenty of courage, participants ran straight into the frigid water just after sunrise.
The Polar Plunge has become a New Year’s Day ritual for many, so Leah Pegram gathered some friends to join her. She said it’s the perfect way to start the year feeling refreshed, energized and a little bit braver.
“I do a lot of sunrise events and I thought what if we do a cold plunge I’ll see who wants to come out. I have a lot of friends who love to surf and wanted embrace at the start of the year so I reached out to my friend Caroline cause she’s one of my adventure buddies and she’s like let’s go and you have a bunch of people showed up to join us.
