Man charged with DUI in death of St. James High School aide had 0.22 BAC, report says

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A man charged in the Highway 707 hit-and-run death of a St. James High School aide in late September had a Blood Alcohol Content of 0.22 — nearly three times the legal limit of 0.08 — according to a report from the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Camerino Antonio Hernandez was charged with felony DUI resulting in death, hit-and-run involved with death, and a third offense of driving without a license. He remains held without bond in the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Troopers said Hernandez was driving a 2007 Chevrolet van that went off the right side of the road and hit Elizabeth Coss, 60, late afternoon on Sept. 30 while she was walking south near Starbuck Lake Road in the Murrells Inlet area. Hernandez was taken to Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital after the incident and then booked into the jail shortly after 9 p.m…
