John-Paul Miller drops appeal in harassment case against former church member as date in federal court looms

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — NewsNation affiliate WBTW was the first to learn former Solid Rock Church pastor John-Paul Miller on Monday dropped his appeal, upholding an August verdict, now leaving him to pay $3,400 to a former member of his congregation.

Publicly available court records show that Miller filed a motion to withdraw around 1:30 p.m. Monday, and the move was confirmed by Conway-based lawyer Regina Ward, whose client Sam Rickman was sued by him last January stemming from harassment complaints which later went to a civil trial.

Rickman filed a counterclaim shortly after.

“This afternoon he just dropped in unannounced and left a Notice of Withdrawal of the Appeal, a check (I was not there) which paid the full jury verdict plus post judgment interest – which I demanded from him,” Ward told WBTW in a text message…
