Driver arrested after high-speed chase in Horry County, across state lines

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — One person was arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase from Horry County into North Carolina, police said.

Horry County Police officers attempted a traffic stop for reckless driving around 2 a.m. in the area of Fries Bay Road and Highway 746 in Loris. The driver refused to stop and officers began the chase, at times reaching 90 miles per hour.

After crossing into North Carolina, officers saw the driver throw a handgun out of the driver’s side window. The chase later ended back in Horry County where the initial traffic stop had taken place…
