U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to reassess North Myrtle Beach renourishment project

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Federal regulators are set to visit North Myrtle Beach to evaluate and inspect a $72 million beach renourishment project in the Cherry Grove area.

The move comes a week after some residents aired concerns after noticing spots around 60th Ave. N. had gotten new sand.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said in a statement to News13 that crews performed an “angular taper,” which creates a slope rather than defined sharp edge. That ended just south of 60th Ave. N., leaving some worried about rising tides and erosion…
