Horry County resident describes frustration over landfill expansion

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A day after criticizing Horry County’s landfill expansion plans because of wetlands impacts, a Conway resident hopes others with concerns step up before a critical window for public input closes.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers last month issued a public notice after receiving an Horry County Solid Waste Authority application to build three new landfill sites at its Highway 90 location, which would boost capacity by 23.4 million tons over the next 45 years.
