Myrtle Beach police warn of phone scammers posing as officers

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — The Myrtle Beach Police Department (MBPD) has released a statement warning the public about scammers posing as officers and demanding money.

They said the posers will call, attempting to create pressure on the listener to respond urgently by sending money.

“The Myrtle Beach Police Department will never call you asking for money. Law enforcement will not request payment of any kind, including gift cards, wire transfers, or electronic payments,” the statement said…
