CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) — The owner of an Horry County sand mine near Lewis Ocean Bay Heritage Preserve in Horry County says a state agency is responsible for burning down a protective barrier mandated by another as part of its permitting process.
Soilutions LLC on Friday named the state Department of Natural Resources, state Forestry Commission, the South Carolina Insurance Reserve Fund and Carolina Beach Claims in its negligence and trespassing complaint.
In September 2021, state regulators approved a mine permit to the company with conditions including the construction silt fencing around its perimeter.
