Couple metal detecting find cannonball in North Myrtle Beach. How’d it get there?

A couple metal detecting on the beach Saturday in North Myrtle Beach discovered what is believed to be a cannonball.

North Myrtle Beach Police reported on its Facebook page that the couple found the item around 48th Avenue South. It is believed the cannonball was brought to shore during the dredging process of the recent beach renourishment by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the post said.

The beach renourishment project was completed in North Myrtle Beach last month…
