‘Freezin’ for a Reason’: Annual Polar Plunge raises money for Special Olympics athletes

GEORGETOWN, SC (WPDE) — The South Carolina Law Enforcement Torch Run campaign, in partnership with The Special Olympics of South Carolina, hosted its sixth annual Polar Plunge, raising money for the organization’s athletes.

Tons of participants at Saturday’s event, at the Litchfield Inn in Pawleys Island, took a dip into the ocean to provide funds for year-round sports training and competition for athletes with intellectual disabilities.

“You don’t feel it. But what a great cause. What a good feeling, once you’re done. Especially when you’re with the community and all these supporters and all these fundraising efforts. It just all comes to fruition today,” Georgetown County Sheriff said…
