MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A multi-million-dollar renourishment project to build up 26 miles of Grand Strand coastline has moved its way into Myrtle Beach.

City officials on Friday shared aerial images of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contractors placing sand between 52nd Ave. N. and 64th Ave N., restoring sand lost to erosion from Hurricane Ian in 2022 and Hurricane Debby in 2024.

The U.S. Army Corps is fully funding the $72 million venture. Crews are expected to finish work in the Cabana section in the coming weeks before moving on to Arcadian Shores. Once that’s done, sand placement will shift to the 3rd Ave. S. area.

Renourishment in Myrtle Beach is expected to wrap up by Memorial Day, depending on weather and equipment…
