MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — The Myrtle Beach Police Department has released its year-in-review for 2025, which shows that its total calls for service decreased by almost 6,000 from 2024.
The department had 127,332 calls for service in 2025, down from 133,024 in 2024. Police also say that “Part 1” reported crime has decreased by 48.25% since 2016.
Part 1 crimes include criminal homicide, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson. In the past five years, there were 2,578 reported Part 1 crimes in 2021, 3,013 in 2022, 2,695 in 2023, 2,578 in 2024, and 2,535 in 2025.

The department also says vacancies have decreased by more than 47% since 2022. Police ended 2025 with 31 vacancies, which has since been reduced to 28.
A patrol captain for the department told News13 in early January that 16 of its 50 vacant officer positions had been filled. The department ended 2022 with 59 vacancies, decreasing to 55 in 2023 and 49 in 2024…
