Many people, seeing or knowing of Mr. Joe White Avenue in Myrtle Beach, have asked who was Mr. Joe White? The short answer is the late Julius “Joe” White (1910-1997) was a beloved and respected shoeshine man and pillar of Shield’s Chapel FBH congregation in Myrtle Beach.
“I knew him as Deacon White,” Cookie Goings recalled of growing up in Myrtle Beach, “and his wife was Mother Louise. He rode his bike everywhere. Everybody loved him.”
