Loris police charge former city council candidate with ‘bribery’

LORIS, S.C. (WPDE) — An investigation into alleged vote-buying in Loris led police to arrest a former city council candidate.

Police say it all began after they reviewed Facebook Live videos showing a former city council candidate offering to pay residents’ water bills.

An incident report said officers were notified by Police Chief Gary Buley about an incident on Sept. 29, 2025, at Loris City Hall. A complaint came in that Lamar Jordan recorded himself on Facebook Live, telling residents to come to City Hall and that he would pay their water bill…
