MURRELLS INLET, S.C. (WBTW) — A student was taken into custody on Wednesday after allegedly stabbing another student in a restroom on the St. James High School campus, Horry County Schools officials said.
Officials said the suspect, whose name has not been released, was taken into custody and that the victim was alert and appeared to OK. Parents were first notified about the incident at 2:01 p.m. by officials.
A second notification — saying that a student was stabbed by another student and the victim was being taken to the hospital — was sent at 2:24 p.m. The school was placed under a lockdown until officials initiated a “hold protocol” while starting a “controlled release” of students at 3:15 p.m., the district said.
