(WPDE) — With winter in the rear-view mirror, many look forward to warmer and sunnier days heading into Spring.
What many might not realize, however, is how fast the rate of sun angle increase becomes during the month of March.
That sun angle not only leads to longer daylight hours, but more direct, intense UV-rays from the sun that can give you a similar type of sunburn or eye damage you can get in say, August or September.
The angle increase jumps from 33 degrees in December, to 45-degrees in late February, to around 57-degrees in March.
Despite cool Spring days, and many not fully in full-summer mode, the UV-index can reach between 8 and 10 throughout the month, meaning only 20 minutes to burn.
Many are not prepared or cognizant of the sun’s intensity this early in the season, and hence likely don’t think to apply sunscreen, particularly when heading to the shore or on the coastal waters, where the amount of sun rays is increased by the reflection…
