MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — A child who was born prematurely will be honored during the Myrtle Beach Marathon this weekend as part of a nationwide mission raising money and awareness for babies in neonatal intensive care units.
Seven-year-old Oliver McVicker will be recognized during the race as part of the Running4Miracles initiative, which highlights the journeys of premature babies while raising funds for NICU families and children’s hospitals.
Oliver was born at 34 weeks — nearly six weeks premature — at Conway Medical Center. Shortly after birth, he was transported by ambulance to McLeod Children’s Hospital in Florence, where doctors treated him for underdeveloped lungs
