North Carolina man gets 25 years for stealing U-Haul truck, trafficking drugs

CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) — A Hope Mills man is headed to prison for 25 years after being convicted of multiple charges stemming from a 2024 theft.

Kevin Penland, 39, was found guilty of possessing a stolen vehicle, trafficking methamphetamine 100 to 200 grams and possession of burglary tools used during the commission of a crime.

On June 18, 2024, a North Myrtle Beach police officer noticed a U-Haul truck in an empty parking lot and the license plate came back as being stolen. Officers searched the vehicle and found the burglary tools and drugs…
