MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A Georgia man who drowned while trying to help swimmers caught in a rip current near Pawleys Island is being honored with one of North America’s highest civilian awards for heroism.
The Carnegie Hero Fund Commission announced on March 23 that Anderson “Chase” Childers is among 18 recipients in its first award announcement for 2026.
