Socastee-area brush fire fully contained

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A Socastee-area “slow-moving” brush fire is now fully contained, Horry County Fire Rescue said Friday morning.

Crews responded just before 7:30 a.m. to the area of Palmetto Pointe Boulevard and Sheffield Parkway where the fire was estimated to be around three acres.

Fire rescue said the fire was fully contained as of 10 a.m., but people may see smoke in the area for an extended amount of time. No structures were threatened as of 8:33 a.m.

The South Carolina Forestry Commission is assisting on scene, as they announced a statewide burn ban that starts at 4 p.m. Friday. HCFR will continue to monitor the fire as the day goes on…
