LADY RAIDERS CAN’T MUSCLE RUNS IN GRAND STRAND OPENER

MYRTLE BEACH, SC-South Range ran into a tough one Monday morning, falling 7-1 to Corning-Painted Post in a game where the Hawks jumped early and never let go.

Corning wasted no time setting the tone. A double from Sophie Schoonover got things started in the first, and Emelia Smith followed with a two-run triple to put South Range in a quick hole. Before the Raiders could settle in, it was already 3-0.

The Hawks kept pressing in the third, and that’s where things really opened up. Katie Grover knocked in a pair with a single, then Matti Johnston ripped a triple to plate two more and stretch the lead to 7-0. Just like that, Corning had full control…
