Longtime Horry County police captain forced to retire for criticizing leadership, lawsuit says

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A police captain with 27 years of service at the Horry County Police Department claims he was forced to retire for speaking out against his department.

Danny Furr filed a lawsuit Wednesday against Horry County, the Horry County Police Department, Chief Kris Leonhardt, former Deputy Chief Lance Winburn, Capt. Brandon Lee and Deputy County Administrator Renee Hardwick.
