Horry County Schools chief rolls out $1.2B budget plan with starting teacher pay bump

CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) — Horry County Superintendent Cliff Jones unveiled a proposed $1.2 billion 2026-27 budget that includes a state-mandated increase in starting teacher pay.

“This budget reflects that we are spending smarter, not just more,” he said during a Monday board meeting. “We’re making deliberate, proactive commitments to teachers and support staff, and student support increases as well.”
