Large crowd expected for grand opening of Myrtle Beach Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — More than 1,000 people are expected to attend Monday’s much-anticipated grand opening of the Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial at Warbird Park in Myrtle Beach, city officials said.

Medal of Honor recipient and Vietnam War veteran Maj. Gen. James E. Livingston, who is retired from the U.S. Marine Corps, will be the featured speaker. The ceremony is set for 11 a.m.

Crews broke ground on the nearly $1 million memorial in January. It features a 9-foot-high by 50-foot-long wall, with the front adorned with stone work, a bronze letter quote and artwork of a Huey helicopter. It also will have life-size statues and seating blocks that will display the seals from each branch of the U.S. military…
