Man accidentally fires gun inside suburban home, injures relative sleeping on couch

A man was charged with a felony after accidentally firing a gun inside a residence and injuring a family member in suburban Glendale Heights, law enforcement said.

Fernando Cardoso, 21, was charged by the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office with reckless discharge of a firearm, a Class 4 felony.

Police said at around 4:06 a.m. on Tuesday, officers were called to the 400 block of James Court near Pearl Avenue for a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, the caller told them a bullet went through a bedroom wall and into the living room, where it hit a family member who was sleeping on the couch…
