On Thursday, the city of Wilmington issued A State of Emergency.
The executive order – signed by Wilmington Mayor Ben Dietz – notes Tuesday’s storm caused severe damage, “including loss of power and damage to property, and the threat of further damage continues to grow in magnitude without immediately addressing repair, rescue, and cleanup efforts.”
The Resolution says, “Without this State of Emergency Declaration, the City would not have sufficient resources to respond accordingly to the Storm Event. Therefore, the City’s Emergency Service and Disaster Agency and Police Department are directed to coordinate the emergency response, and to take all appropriate action needed to alleviate the effects of the disaster in order to aid in the restoration of essential public service, and to take any other emergency response actions deemed necessary to respond to the disaster emergency.”…
