Downtown Naperville is bracing for its biggest end-of-summer bash yet, as the Naperville Jaycees Last Fling returns for its 61st year with carnival rides, a beer garden, and a brand-new one-on-one breakdancing battle staged right on the Riverwalk. The four-day festival runs from Friday night through late Monday afternoon at the Naperville Riverwalk, blending six decades of tradition with a few new twists for 2026.
The festival’s newest addition, Riverwalk Breaks, will host a breakdancing showdown for youths, teens and adults on Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Riverwalk Amphitheater, with DJs Virgil 7 and Jillian X supplying the music. As reported by the Chicago Tribune, judges Bochi, Vital and Dozy Fresh will oversee the head-to-head battles, with the adult competition winner taking home $300 and the youth winner earning $200. Naperville Jaycees representative Karen Coleman told the outlet the event is one-on-one and will feature area-recognized DJs and judges, a format organizers hope will spotlight local street-dance talent alongside the festival’s more traditional attractions.
Music, Food and Family Fun Fill Out the Weekend
Live music anchors each night of the festival at the Jackson Avenue Main Stage, with Hairbangers Ball headlining Friday, Hillbilly Rockstarz taking Saturday, Sixteen Candles closing out Sunday, and Hi Infidelity wrapping things up Monday. The Beer Garden Stage will also feature live music daily, according to the same Tribune report. Beyond the music, the Last Fling includes theater and music performances, athletic demonstrations, a reptile show, Legos building, senior bingo, a balloon toss and a spaghetti-eating contest.
Food options span 17 businesses offering pizza, ice cream, bratwursts, shaved ice, sandwiches, tacos, pierogis and roasted corn, with Candy Shenanigans on hand as a dedicated candy vendor. Drinkers 21 and older can take advantage of free beverage tastings held mid- to late-afternoon each festival day near the sponsor’s tent and food vendors on Jackson Avenue between Webster and Main streets. The festival offers 14 types of adult beverages, including beer, wine, new seltzers and nonalcoholic options from Go Brewing, plus additional nonalcoholic drinks for those who want to skip the alcohol altogether.
Carnival Passes and Accessibility Options
Ringling Bros. & Barnum & Bailey provides family attractions at this year’s festival, and a carnival mega pass with unlimited rides is available for $90 online through Sunday or $100 at the main ticket booth at Jackson Avenue and Eagle Street. The Last Fling also offers one-day and three-day passes with unlimited carnival rides specifically for children.
