Traffic was backed up for miles after a crash on I-88 in the western suburbs of Chicago at the start of the afternoon rush hour on Thursday afternoon.
Around 4 p.m., aerial video captured by NBC Chicago Sky 5 showed all but one of the westbound lanes of I-88 were shut down after a crash that appeared to involve a bridge carrying railroad tracks over the interstate.
Crews could be seen working at the scene as hundreds of drivers sat in snarled traffic that backed up from near Eola Road in Aurora to North Washington Street in Naperville…
