HOT ROD Drag Week brings five days of racing and road miles to Illinois

Some of the quickest street-legal cars in the country will make their way across Illinois in September, but the race will not end when drivers leave the starting line.

HOT ROD Drag Week is a five-day motorsports competition that requires drivers to race their vehicles at four tracks while driving up to 1,000 miles between venues. The cars cannot be trailered, and competitors cannot rely on support vehicles or parts that were not brought with them.

The annual event will take place Sept. 13-18 as HOT ROD continues celebrating the 100th anniversary of Route 66. The competition will begin and end at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, with stops at Byron Dragway, Cordova Dragway and in Madison, Illinois at World Wide Technology Raceway…
