Plainfield police asks public to avoid roadway after ‘major incident’

Plainfield police are asking residents to avoid a portion of the community after a “major incident” Thursday night.

According to a pair of alerts issued by police, residents were asked around 7:25 p.m. to avoid 127th Street between Naper-Plainfield Road and Route 59 amid the response to the incident. Police said in an update around 8:30 p.m. that the road was reopened.

It was not immediately clear what took place in the area, but police did say there was no imminent threat to the public…
