JOLIET, IL — Joliet West High School was placed under a brief lockdown Thursday morning due to safety concerns related to an “aggressive patient” from a nearby hospital. The lockdown has since been lifted following the patient’s apprehension by police.
The situation unfolded when the patient left Ascension Saint Joseph – Joliet hospital, located west of the high school. Kristine Schlismann, spokeswoman for Joliet Township High School District 204, stated that the precautionary lockdown was initiated to ensure the safety of students and staff.
The Joliet Police Department was involved in managing the situation. Following the patient’s capture, the school district officials were informed, and the lockdown was promptly lifted.
