Neighbor’s videos led to identification of suspected Joliet killer: Report

JOLIET (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Home security video appeared to have captured one of the shootings by suspect Romeo Nance in Joliet over the weekend.:

Curtis Ellis was watching the NFL playoffs Sunday afternoon when he heard gunshots outside. He told the Chicago Sun-Times he saw his 42-year-old neighbor limping and called 911.

His home security video camera appeared to have captured the moment Romeo Nance allegedly fired nine shots as he drove by in a red Camry.

The paper reported Ellis shared the license plate number with police who were able to connect the car to the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old man shortly after and then discovered the bodies of seven of Nance’s relatives .

“I captured a serial killer on my video that I didn’t even know I was doing,” Ellis said.

Ellis said his neighbor was an innocent bystander, and, while Ellis is happy the man survived, he prays for Nance’s family.
