CHICAGO — A 15-year-old boy was taken into custody in the south suburbs this week in connection with a string of armed carjackings that allegedly unfolded on the city’s South and Southwest sides in early October.
According to Chicago police, charges have been filed against the teen, who has not been identified due to his age, for his alleged role in three armed carjackings that occurred over a three-hour period on Friday, Oct. 6.

Authorities say the teen is facing three felony counts of aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm.
Chicago police provided the following list of times and locations where the carjackings allegedly occurred:
- 34-year-old man carjacked at 5:44 a.m. in the 7300 Block of South Rockwell Street in Chicago Lawn
- 29-year-old woman carjacked at 6:40 a.m. in the 8300 block of South Stony Island Avenue in Avalon Park.
- 67-year-old man carjacked at 8:20 a.m. in the 200 block of West 87th Street in Chatham.
